How to Get Started

Contact me to set up an appointment. During our first session, I will ask you questions like: what is bringing you into therapy? what current stresses are you facing? do you have any specific goals or expectations in mind? You can also ask any questions you might have about me, my approach, or about the process of therapy in general.

Prior to your first appointment please read, sign, and bring the forms found in the link below. Do not email these documents. Email is not a secure form of communication.

Frequently Asked Questions

What happens in a typical therapy session?

Therapy sessions are typically a combination of exploration and problem-solving. We explore your thoughts and  feelings about what is currently troubling you and discuss what has happened to you in the past that might be impacting you today. This exploration often brings insight and clarity. If change is your goal, then we shift into problem-solving—we get a clearer picture of the specific problems you’re facing, brainstorm new and different ways of handling them, and practice the skills you’ll need to make these changes stick.

How long does a session last?

Each session is 55 minutes long.

How often do I go to therapy?

That’s up to you. I typically see clients once a week, though I do see clients every other week as well. Once they start feeling better, some clients come in once a month just to check in.

How much does a therapy session cost? What insurance do you accept?

My fee is $120 per session. I accept BCBS insurance. If you have another insurance plan, I can provide receipts for you to submit for reimbursement. How much you will be reimbursed depends on your out-of-network benefits. I also offer a sliding scale if you can’t afford the full fee.
